Handmade in the same tradition as basket coiling, the craft behind these coasters is one that has been passed down through multiple generations from mother to daughter. The fibers are harvested from local raffia palm trees, sun-dried, and then dyed using organic materials. They are then wrapped around long strips of banana leaf stems, and woven to create these exquisite pieces. Alongside caring for their families and farms, women weave in small groups, building community and mastering their trade.
